For many years I dressed the wounds of soldiers and attended to their myriad ailments. For many years I managed hospitals, big and small, in cities, on the front and remote areas. My long journey of 36 years in the Army Medical Corps ended in May,2006 but little did I realize that something equally challenging and more heart warming would fall in my lot. My entry in to Saket on 7th July 2006 was like a pilgrim’s progress who reaches the altar after an arduous journey. Here was the Abode of God that I had neither sought nor yearned for. I took it as a reward from His bounty.

Saket, the institute for treatment and rehabilitation for the orthopaedically handicapped located in Chandimandir/Panchkula, was started way back by our founding fathers in the year 1957 with a clear consciousness towards the moral advancement of community we live in.

In the race of modernization and fast paced progress in our country these days, the number of people who are getting crippled due to various disabilities is ever increasing. The number of children born with congenital deformities, people suffering due to industrial and road side accidents and amputations resulting from diabetic foot is going up alarmingly. Such human suffering needed a temple like Saket to provide them specific treatment for correction of deformity, physiotherapy to make them mobile, provide them with specific job related training and to rehabilitate them so that they can support themselves with a respectable occupation to earn their livelihood. They walk out to stand on their feet with dignity in the society. Over the years, our inmates have risen to gain a respectable status in society as Doctors, Professors, Teachers, Artists, Tailors, Mechanics and so on with their own efforts and the rehabilitation training provided by the institute.

Today we are celebrating the world disabled day. Our president his Excellency the Governor of Haryana has always stood with us in our institute as he does on this important day. We are proud of winning many National and State awards in the field of welfare of the handicapped. All this could be achieved due to the guidance of His Excellency, honorable members of our Council and support of our esteemed donors and charitable organizations.

Though over the years, we have done a lot but still there is lot of potential in this venture for the growth of organization. Lately we have changed our conventional limb making technology to Jaipur foot and limb replacing wooden parts with HDPE (High Density Polyethyline) and very advanced total contact socket system. Our aim is to provide light, durable, comfortable and affordable limbs to the needy and poor in the community. On this day we take a pledge that this institute would come out as one of the best institute in the region and full fill all future plans by applying and using the best of technology.

I feel proud to be heading a very dedicated team of the Saket family whose selfless service and devotion shown to our patients and hostel inmates is seen in the cheerful faces of children. Probably we have achieved our ultimate objective when we see a helpless and crippled child comes to our institute and then we see their smiling face in their newfound home. Such gesture gives us tremendous satisfaction and sense of inner
pleasure. In fact it touches the very core of our soul.

We are optimistic that you all are there to support us with moral and financial support to make this institute as one of the best in field for the welfare of physically handicapped
